Well, these days music is what i do to feed my soul and to keep me sane. I see things today as they are and i remember my simple childhood Holidays and wonder how much has changed in my lifetime.
When i was a kid my mom had Gene Autry records with Gene singing "Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer" every Christmas...lights on the tree, fruit cake,family get-togethers and it was magic..Today i am an adult with no tree,no family to speak of,and this year i am alone for the holidays.Yes, I play music..but it is my originals i write..and perform and we are not performing during the Holidays. I still have not given up on this thing..this time of year of hope and new beginnings...It just wouldn't be right...Dec 2. I played at a club in Atlanta,Ga. called The Masquerade with a great band from Ca. named "X" and Juliana Hatfield .it was a smashing success...Record companies are now interested in signing us("Bruce Joyner and The Reconstruction) and shows are being offered to us by clubs and fellow musicians...Life is good...2006 is coming on jusy right;as i hoped it would...Now, I worked hard to get to this point at this juncture in my life and i am grateful....but i am going to dig out my Gene Autry Record on Christmas Day and i am going to watch the Christmas parades like i used to with my family while Gene sings in the background..My Mom would have liked the idea that i am staying home. I have great health,a few wonderful friends, food in the fridge and e-mail and a telephone if i want to reach out and touch someone..My mandolin is all tuned up and i am going to play along with my Gene Autry record...as he sings.."here comes Santa Claus,"here comes Santa Claus", "riding down Santa Claus Lane",just like i did when i was 6 years old ,while i think good thoughts for all of us...and hope love is the gift all of ya'll receive this year. ...................
